Jet-like vacuum mouth
Seahorses have no teeth or stomach. They eat brine shrimp by sucking them into their mouth with a full-on jet-like vacuum. Most seahorses grow to about 10 cm in length and live for one to four years.
Don't be fooled! Seahorses haven't got scales. They're covered in a hard, protective lager of thick skin instead. Like chameleons, seahorses can move their eyes in different directions. Plus, they use their head to change direction when swimming.
Male seahorses carry and give birth to babies after the female transfers her eggs into the male's pouch. Weird! There are over 35 species of seahorses around the world - look out for 'em!
